THE PHASES OF SUCCESS WITHOUT STRESS
Phase I: Awareness
- An inventory of personal and professional assets and liabilities is taken at the outset of the program. The purpose of this inventory process is to guide each participant through a personal exploration of behavior patterns and attitudes which lead to the initiation and sustainment of stress.
In order to facilitate a plan of action to reduce stress, a participant is assistaed in understanding the role he or she plays in its development.
Four Features of the Awareness Phase
- Learn how productivity is inhibited by stress
- Identify the building blocks of success
- Learn how to avoid contributing to stressful situations
- Evaluate existing stress management methods
PHASE II: Action
- A battery of stress reduction techniques are available. Participants are assisted in selecting those most meaningful to them. All techniques are modified to accommodate predetermined goals established by the individual. Each participant is involved in the design of their personal plan of action.
An Invidividuals's participation in the process of designing a personalized program of action creates the sense of involvement necessary for continued success.
Five Features of Action Phase
- Time is spent with each participant in order to design a personal goal-oriented program.
- Experience autonomic and physical relaxation techniques
- Identify and eliminate dietrary habits that increase stress
- Apply visualization technicques for reinforcement of individualized goals
- Utilize self-motivation methods
PHASE III: Achievement
- A monitoring process is established over an extended time frame. The purpose for this is twofold. First, it ensures a support system through which each participant experiences an ongoing concern with his or her progress. Second, it provides a mechanism through which each participant has continuous access to the program facilitator.
The philosophy of this stage is to avoid the inherent weakness of "one-shot" programs. This is accomplished through the establishment of an on-going two-way communication channel.
